Aol Mail Hacked With Spoofed Accounts Sending Spam
Not just you, either. Aol Mail was compromised, apparently leading to the spoofing of many accounts. There are several first-person tales of spam being sent from either the compromised email account or an email account that has been faked to seem like the original under the hashtag #aolhacked on Twitter.
Aol has been contacted by us for further information. The business stated in a statement earlier today that they were attempting to fix the problem. AOL’s Twitter handle @aolmailhelp is frantically responding to people’s pleas for assistance and pointing them to this help page for further information.
According to sources close to the firm, less than 1% of all customers were affected, and they anticipate the problem will be rapidly fixed.
It appears that this problem started three days ago. It’s advised to ignore any links you get in emails from Aol email addresses and notify the sender that their account has been hijacked. Although Aol has not officially addressed the size of the breach, the hack appears to be broad.
